Brief strategic and interactional therapies:
Strategic therapies are goal oriented and future focussed; they are inherently interactional which mean collaborative with the client. Strategic and interactional therapies collaborate with a client to identify their strengths and examine their relationships and interactions with others in the process of understanding their issues.
Strategic therapy does not focus on the root cause or the story of their issue, but aims to develop the client’s problem solving skills. It is highly interactional in its belief in the unique qualities and situations of each person, and in their ability to take control of their behaviours and create their own future. The therapist works with the client to develop their cognitive skills that maintain their problem space so that they can achieve their desired goals.
