Policy Owner: Head of Learning
1. Introduction
This policy outlines the conditions under which recordings will be made during classes, webinars, and practical sessions at the Institute of Applied Psychology (IAP). The policy is designed to comply with Australian laws, including the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), the Copyright Act 1968 (Cth), and relevant state legislation.
2. Purpose
The purpose of recording educational sessions is to enhance the learning experience by providing students with an opportunity to review material, reflect on discussions, and engage more deeply with course content.
3. Scope
This policy applies to all faculty, staff, and students involved in IAP’s classes, webinars, and practical sessions, whether face-to-face or online.
4. Policy Statement
4.1 General Consent
By enrolling in a course, webinar, or practical session at IAP, students consent to the recording of these educational activities for the purposes described in Section 2.
4.2 Notification
Instructors must inform students at the beginning of each course or session if recordings will be made.
4.3 Voluntary Participation
Participation in live demonstrations is voluntary. Students who volunteer for demonstrations consent to being recorded and understand that these recordings will be made available to classmates for educational purposes.
4.4 Storage and Security
Recordings will be stored in a secure, password-protected environment, accessible only to students enrolled in the specific course or session. Recordings will be kept for a period consistent with IAP’s data retention policy and Australian legal requirements.
4.5 Copyright
All recordings are the property of IAP. Unauthorised distribution, including sharing, copying, or publishing the recording without written permission from IAP, is a violation of Australian copyright law and may result in disciplinary action.
4.6 Access and Use
Students may access the recordings solely for the purpose of personal study and may not share them with anyone not enrolled in the course.
4.7 Requests for Removal
Any request for the removal of a recording must be submitted in writing and will be considered on a case-by-case basis, keeping in mind the educational necessity and impact on other students.
4.8 Legal Compliance
